This six week course will go beyond creating fabric and guide students in constructing pieces that serve a function. We will make two small projects throughout the course: one made from knitting flat and the other from knitting in-the-round. As we build our projects we will learn intermediate to advanced techniques such as picking up stitches, grafting, the provisional cast-on, german short rows, and utilizing gauge; equipping you with a well-rounded repertoire. Completing homework will give students the most benefit from the lessons, but students are welcome to swatch during class.
Materials are not provided. Please see the list for recommended materials below. This class is open to adventurous beginners but must be familiar with knitting flat in stockinette stitch and how to shape knitted fabric with increases and decreases. Previous enrollment in Knitting Artistry Level I is not required.
Students will need to bring:
US 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needles with a 40” (100 cm) cable
2.25 skeins or 225 g of worsted weight yarn wound into cakes: 200 g in main color and at least 25 g in a contrast color.
