Day 4:

Completing a personally designed 10" embroidered thread painting

On Thursday evenings in May, Claire will teach students how to design and create a 10" landscape thread painting from start to finish. Together, we will prep tulle-stretched embroidery hoops, learn hand-stitching techniques to achieve a landscape painting, and then sketch, design, and embroider a composition based on photo references.

Each student will leave with a personally designed 10" embroidered painting and 5" embroidered "skills-building" practice hoop(s). At the end of the four weeks, students will have the skills and confidence to translate a photo into a sketch and bring that sketch to life through embroidery.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned stitcher, this series is perfect for honing your skills and unleashing your creativity.

Materials will be provided. However, for the final two classes, you may want to purchase embroidery floss in colors specific to your final composition. We will cover this in class. For our second and third classes, sketch paper and drawing tools will be available, but you are encouraged to bring your favorite pens, paints, or markers.

This workshop is suited for sewing beginners: teenagers to adults.
