Join artist Dani Ives, https://www.daniives.com, for this fun and super informative needle felting workshop! We’ll explore the art of Painting with Wool and learn two-dimensional, flat needle felting techniques for making wool images. All skill and experience levels are invited!
Supply kits will be provided (that you’ll use and take home after class) and will include everything you need to finish multiple projects: felting foam pad, felting needles in two sizes, 2 pieces of fabric for backgrounds, a 6” embroidery hoop and lots of wool.
After an introduction to basics, we’ll dive into more specific methods to build up your felting skills. Topics Dani will discuss and demonstrate include getting an image onto your fabric, different techniques for blending wool colors, and how to achieve fine details and various textures.
You can work at your own pace, and Dani will provide everyone with one-on-one assistance as desired. In this workshop, you can choose your own subject. You are encouraged to come with an idea or two of something you’d like to create! You can bring your reference photos on your phone, or printed on regular office printer paper (about 5” x 7” size) if you’d like to transfer it directly rather than just sketching it. You do not need to know how to draw. (Dani is happy to answer any questions about your photo or help you choose the project you'd like to
work on: hello@daniives.com.) Various patterns will also be provided if you’d like to make one of Dani’s designs (toadstools, bee, cactus, butterfly, raccoon, etc.)
