Hillfolk Knit Club – Meeting One
Date: Wednesday, June 4
Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
Location: Hillfolk

Welcome to the Hillfolk Knit Club—a new monthly gathering space for knitters of all levels. Each session blends hands-on technique with thoughtful conversation and inspiration.

June Theme: Arkansas Prairies
Our first meeting features a talk by Caite Mae Ramos on the ecology and cultural significance of Arkansas’s remnant prairies, followed by an Introduction to Intarsia led by Diana Ricketts.

What is Intarsia?
Often avoided for its reputation as “tricky,” intarsia is a colorwork technique that allows for graphic design with minimal yarn waste. In this introductory session, participants will learn the basics and cast on a small swatch inspired by prairie landscapes. It’s an ideal entry point for anyone curious about working with multiple colors in knitting.

Club Activity Materials:

  • Please bring US size 7–9 knitting needles

  • Worsted weight wool in 3 contrasting colors (20g each), OR

  • Purchase the Prairie Package (includes 3 exclusive hand dyed mini-skeins + “Arkansas Remnants” pattern)

Meeting Format:

  • Open Knitting Table (casual, social)

  • Activity Table (structured, optional—sign up or drop in)
