An in person series with Olivia Clanton

Join local artist, long time quilter and craft educator Olivia Mae Clanton (she/her) on this journey in creating a handmade Quilt, from dyeing to finishing. Throughout the month of January and February, meeting each Saturday, Olivia will teach students how to successfully dye, design, piece, block, sew, baste, quilt and bind a modern naturally dyed 40” x 60” 9-patch quilt from scratch.

Students will learn all the traditional techniques of quilting and strengthen their technical sewing skills as well as hone their eye for design and color theory. Each student will make their own Log Cabin block, 9 Patch block, Half Square Triangle block, Courthouse Steps block, Sewing Curves and Sawtooth Star block.

By the end of the program, students will have created their own quilt from start to finish, build confidence, self-reliance and autonomy on the sewing machine. Students should expect to work on their quilt at home or at Wednesday community craft nights.
